The evening prior to the opening day of Frieze Art Fair’s New York edition, The Fifth Avenue Hotel—a VIP partner of the fair—presents an exclusive live music preview of renowned artist Diane Severin Nguyen’s first performance work that will premiere this November as part of the Performa Biennial, a vibrant three-week, city-wide showcase of new performances by leading contemporary artists from around the world.
The performance, set in an intimate scene reminiscent of a teenager’s bedroom, tucked inside an imaginary forest, will feature a female vocalist and guitarist performing reimagined folk and rock songs from the 1960s. Snow and trees will fill The Fifth’s Mansion Ballroom, softly evoking the winter landscape of Vietnam—the setting of the artist’s new film premiering later this year—transforming the ballroom into a dreamlike, cinematic concert experience.
This performance is co-commissioned by Performa and the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA). Following it’s debute at the Performa Biennial, it will be presented in Los Angeles as part of Wonmi’s WAREHOUSE Program, MOCA’s signature platform dedicated to showcasing live art at the intersection of artistic forms, experimentation, and public engagement, in spring 2026.
This program is presented exclusively to guests of The Fifth Avenue Hotel and an invited audience. To inquire about attendance, please write to experiences@thefifthavenuehotel.com.
