All Tracks Lead to The Portrait Bar

Since 1834, the Long Island Rail Road has carried dreamers, daytrippers, and commuters across bays, fields, and beach towns. This summer, from July 9 to September 21, 2025, The Portrait Bar pays homage to the spirit of those journeys with a limited-edition menu of cocktails and coastal bites that takes cues from five of the LIRR’s most storied routes.

Montauk Branch
Long Island strawberries, Daytrip Strawberry Amaro, cherrywood-smoked single malt, and mint come together in a countryside-inspired mint julep, referencing the eastern edge of the island where farmland meets sea air.

Babylon Branch
Pine Barren Single Malt, reposado tequila, barrel-aged gin, Appleton Estate rum, Grand Marnier, Sweet Vermouth, and Cherry Dr. Pepper are blended into a Manhattan-style cocktail, offering a bold reinterpretation of the Long Island Iced Tea.

Ronkonkoma Branch
LIV Gin, Elysian Fields Lavender Gin, Bitter Bianco, lemon oleo, and soda combine to create a lavender-forward highball with floral aromatics reminiscent of East Marion and the island’s interior landscape.

Oyster Bay Branch
Fear City Gin, Chartreuse Elixir Végétal, Mediterranean tonic, and sea bean combine to create a bracing gin and tonic with a coastal character, referencing the Atlantic edge and a familiar line from Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.”

Long Beach Branch
Pineapple rum, watermelon, tepache, and Barrier Brewery’s LOMAX Summer IPA form a playful beer shandy, drawing on the rhythm of summer days along the South Shore.

To round out the experience, a menu of coastal fare is available, featuring oysters, fluke ceviche, and the classic lobster roll, all designed to pair naturally with the seasonal drinks.

For those staying in the city, our Stay Local package offers a gateway of its own. Early check-in, late check-out, and valet parking make arrival easier. Each stay includes breakfast for two at Café Carmellini, as well as a VIP welcome amenity. The summer edition of The Fifth’s Flâneur Guide offers curated ideas for wandering well because sometimes, the perfect escape is just around the corner.
