Late one night on a Yorkshire farm, in the midst of an illegal rave, a young man is nearly bludgeoned to death with a solid gold bar. An ambitious young journalist sets out to uncover the truth surrounding the attack, connecting the dots between an amoral banker landlord, an iconoclastic newspaper columnist, and a radical anarchist movement that has taken up residence on the farm. She solves the mystery, but her viral exposé raises more questions than it answers. Through a voyeuristic lens, and with a simmering power, Universality, the newest novel by acclaimed author Natasha Brown, focuses on words: what we say, how we say it, and what we really mean.
On the occasion of the release of Universality The Fifth Avenue Hotel and PAGE BREAK present an intimate day of reading and connection. Together, 15 people will read Brown’s book aloud throughout the day and throughout the hotel—yes, it’s okay to just listen!). We will start and end the book together, while also making time for individual reading and group discussion. Once finished, another layer reveals itself: a dinner featuring a menu and wine pairing inspired by Universality, developed specifically for this event.
This program is limited to 15 guests. Please write to experiences@thefifthavenuehotel.com to inquire about attendance.
